INTRO TO SHAKESPEARE: In this 16 week Intro to Shakespeare class (ages 6-10), students will learn basic acting skills, stage combat, ensemble work, improvisation, commedia, puppetry, mask work (making them as well), physical theatre, dance, voice/public speaking and they will engage directly with Shakespearean text. This class is inclusive, helps the development of basic reading skills, builds confidences, instills a love of language and theatre, encourages imagination and is fun!
HISTORY IMPROV ~ ANCIENT TIMES! Weekly history lessons that involve students bringing in fun unique facts to share as we discuss and learn. Then we break into theatre exercises and improvisation and re-enact history allowing our students the chance to experience the point of view of the actual people who lived it!
MASTER CLASS: Our 8 week Master Class for ages 13 and up is designed to develop the student as an individual artist and as an effective player of a creative ensemble. Through our instruction and scene work the students will learn specific techniques to develop the actor’s mind, voice, and body for a confident and honest performance. We then hope our students will continue with our Shakespeare Performance program. Plays we are considering: Hamlet, As You Like it, Love’s Labour’s Lost and Much Ado About Nothing. We may set our play in a different time period.
SHAKESPEARE PERFORMANCE PROGRAM: In these fun, active and engaging classes we teach and direct scenes or an edited Shakespeare play by using many of the following techniques ~ acting, improv, ensemble, history, text analysis, speech/voice technique, singing, period dance and sword fighting. The program ends with a performance for friends and family.
