WINTER/SPRING:  Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Fridays, Jan 14-June 5, 2022, 12:35-2pm

Ages 7+ ($425/$450)

Join us for a fun and exciting program of rehearsing and performing an edit of one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies ~ A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Our script is edited from the original text keeping the Elizabethan English and features the exciting plots of the hilarious tradesmen/actors, the royalty of Athens and the magical fairies and rulers of the fairy kingdom (due to the ages in this group, the lover’s plot is cut).  Through physical and theatrical exercises, students will learn how to create and develop a character, understand Shakespeare and use their voices and bodies to tell this great story.  We’ll bring it all together as we prepare for an end-of-year performance of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. This class is a safe and supportive atmosphere where students are encouraged to make bold acting choices while learning teamwork and gaining confidence.  All students will get a speaking role involving lines (if they wish) that will need to be memorized on schedule. Roles range in size (small, medium and large) and will be cast in consideration of class size, production needs and student preference.
