Ages 9+ ($475/$500 charter)

Join us for a fun and exciting program of rehearsing and performing an edit of one of Shakespeare’s last great masterpieces ~ Romeo and Juliet. Our script is edited from the original text keeping the Elizabethan English and features ALL the exciting parts and beautiful relationships between the lovers (no kissing required), the incredible dynamic and struggles between family/parent & child and additionally the loyalty, fun and friendships between Romeo and his crew AND the Nurse and her Juliet. Through physical and theatrical exercises, students will learn how to create and develop a character, understand Shakespeare and use their voices and bodies to tell this great story.  We’ll bring it all together as we prepare for an end-of-year performance of Romeo and Juliet (TBA). This class is a safe and supportive atmosphere where students are encouraged to make bold acting choices while learning teamwork and gaining confidence.  All students will get a speaking role (if they wish) involving lines that will need to be memorized on schedule. Roles range in size (small, medium and large) and will be cast in consideration of class size, production needs and student preference.

*We hope to perform on site on the last day.  Please keep that afternoon open for added rehearsal and performance time.  We may also look to add one extra class on a different day between May 16-May 22.
