Wednesdays with Cy in Thousand Oaks

Fall Session:  Sept 22-Dec 8, 2021 

Learn History through Improv:  Japanese Artists!  Wednesdays 10:30am-11:50am at CVH for ages 11-14.  $187 ($198 if paying with charter funds)

Forget heavy textbooks, tedious tests, and lists of dates. History comes alive when you get to BE the characters!  Each week students will learn all about an amazing Japanese creator! Using fun and easy improv basics, they will jump up on their feet and act out these stories and understand the artist and the history from the point of view of the people that lived it. And there is no writing requirement! Explore history in more exciting and fulfilling way.


Stage Sword Combat and Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet* Wednesdays 9-10:20am at CVH for ages 13-17.  $198 ($209 if paying with charter funds)

In this program, students will learn stage combat and study one of Shakespeare’s works Romeo and Juliet with acting technique for performance. Through physical and theatrical exercises, students will learn how to create and develop a character, understand Shakespeare and use their voices and bodies to tell this great story.  This class is a safe and supportive atmosphere where students are encouraged to make bold acting choices while learning teamwork and gaining confidence.  The 11-week session will culminate in a choreographed fight scene and performance selection from Romeo and Juliet. Students will also get a great workout!  *The selection we will work on involves no romance or kissing.
